This guide walks you through installing and configuring the Arist app in your Slack workspace so you can begin delivering content to your team.
Prerequisites
Admin role in your Arist organization
Admin permissions in your Slack workspace (or ability to request app installation from your Slack admin)
Your Slack Team ID or workspace URL
Important Notes
User Import: Connecting Slack will import ALL Slack users in your workspace to your Arist account. This does not mean all users will receive training unless they are enrolled in a specific course. You can manage and organize your users by segmenting them into cohorts after the integration is completed.
Permissions: You must have Admin permissions in both Arist and Slack to complete the setup. If you lack Slack admin permissions, the app installation will require approval from your Slack Space Admin.
Step 1: Find Your Slack Team ID
Before installing, you'll need to retrieve your Slack Team ID.
For Slack Enterprise Grid Users
Go to the Slack Admin Center
Click on Workspaces in the left-hand menu
Select a specific workspace from the list
The "T" workspace identifier is often visible in the URL of the workspace settings page:
https://admin.slack.com/workspaces/TXXXXXXXXX
For Most Slack Teams
Click on your workspace name in the top left corner of the Slack app
Copy the workspace URL (it will look like:
workspacename.slack.com)
Open this URL in your browser
The Team ID will populate in the URL bar
Your Team ID will be a string of numbers and letters starting with T (example: TCXS5U4AS). You can submit either the full workspace URL or just the Team ID.
Step 2: Configure Slack in Arist
Log into your Arist organization with an Admin account
Navigate to Organization Settings (click your organization name, then select Organization settings from the menu)
Select Delivery Methods > find the Slack section
Enter your Slack workspace URL or Team ID in the text field
Click Save
Step 3: Install the Arist App in Slack
After saving your Slack Team ID, an authorization link will appear above the input field.
Click the "Install the Arist app to your workspace" link
Your browser will open and take you to Slack's authorization page
Review the permissions Arist is requesting:
Click Allow to authorize the integration
Note: If you don't have Admin permissions in Slack, you'll see a "Request to install" screen where you can submit a request to your Slack App Manager.
Step 4: Verify Installation
Open your Slack workspace
Click on Apps in the left sidebar
Verify that Arist appears in your installed applications list
Learners will not receive any messages that the app has been installed. All active enrollments will continue seamlessly.
